Jazz is a too-many-options kinda genre.

Jazz covers so many types of music and its impossible to find more of what you like.

For me - I've been enjoying bluesy jazz guitarists. But its super hard to find them.

Its especially hard to find: Bluesy Jazz guitar-lead music from the modern times where its not just white American men.

Whenever I do C++ I always end up battling the build system.

I spend longer making my compiler find the libraries and source code than I do actually writing the first part of the project code.

Startup cost of C++ is still really high, even if the language is much better for writing nowadays.

Back at the boardgame cafe playing Firefly today. πŸš€

I normally play Esmeralda, but were doing Pirates and Bounty Hunters today so I am playing the immoral bounty hunters!

Woop, restrung my strat this evening.

I have now replaced all the strings on all my guitars except the bass πŸŽ‰

As of 3 days or so ago, the ACCUWeather app asks me if I like the new app design. In German.

My phone is set to English.

It does this every time I open the app.

It was Β£239 which is....a lot when I don't actually need more guitars.

I mean, you can only play so many, and I don't play my existing ones enough.

Getting more into playing my guitars again means, obviously, that I keep looking at buying more guitars.

I just spotted a limited edition Ibanez on Cash Converters and oh my is it gorgeous:

Should CVs be in 3rd person?

I've always been taught that CVs are in a special form on 3rd person English without pronouns.

"A happy person, excited by space ships. Excellent guitar player"

Like, I've had it drilled into me that I wouldn't get a job with a 1st person profile.

But my friends disagree, and apparently so do lots of other folks on Twitter.

Especially interested to hear from people who hire people.

Pharmacy: "We ordered your prescription last week but havent heard anything back yet."

GP: "We did not receive any prescription orders for your medication."

Its a fucking good job I checked up, otherwise I'd run out of tablets on Wednesday.

Getting repeat medication through the NHS on time is hellish.

Its GP Surgery bothering day!

I love my second job as "'Manager of Samathy's healthcare".

I saw my parents at the weekend and they brought my Cajon up - now I have a whole band in my office:

Guitar 🎸
Bass 🎸
Piano 🎹
Drum πŸ₯

Looks like I'm going through one of those months where evenings and weekends disappear, I don't get what I want to do done and I am completely exhausted for weeks. 😴

I should probably do the strings on my Peavey strat, since I don't think those gave ever been changed either and I probably got that in... 2007?

Oh, and it's unlikely that the guitar shop put new strings on my (2nd hand) bass guitar before they sold it to me.

BUUUUUT 2 sets of strings were almost Β£40.

Replaced the strings on 2 of my guitars for the first time in probably years.

I know I haven't replaced the strings on my acoustic since 2015.

I don't think the strings on my Vintage Les Paul have ever been replaced, dad bought it in maybe 2009?

I've actually done more days of German on Memrise, but Duolingo allows you to miss a day (or 2 at weekends!) before the streak breaks, Memrise streaks break after one failed day.

@Clipsey Oh, on further investigation, is it just Glimpse NX that gets D?

I can't find any code for it, I guess its secret atm?

I didn't realise new code for Glimpse was

I am suddenly at least 60% more interested in participating in development.

New and interesting guitar pedals are all well over Β£100. Some into the multiple 100s.

Probably because they're basically small computers with complicated digital audio processing algorithms and synthesis chips.

As opposed to the boxes of passive resistors, diodes and ICs designed in 1970.

What is it with the music industry's obsession with sounding like 'the old days'.

I've just seen a Boss CS-3 pedal mod where someone replaced resistors, caps and diodes because Boss updated the pedal with different SMD components.

It seems like 80% of guitar pedals are just a remake of some pedal from 1989 which is based on a pedal from 1979 itself is a remake of a 1971 pedal replicating the sound of a broken amp from 1969.
